Topic: HIV/AIDS information and Support for learners
One of the things one should do as a teacher is to be always there for such learners it does not how bad it is going for that learners. atleast as teachers we should try and lift the burdon.

When it comes to providing information, you should make sure you are sensitive to those who are infected and affecte. they might feel you are doing it to mock them.

so what is your view on this one.

Its true that those infected might feel mocked but you should tell the learners in advance you are doing it for educational purposes and so that people are educated and don't desciminate those infected.

Yeah it's good to tell them before hand but maybe excusing them from class wil help or something. If we put our selves in their shoes, how would you feel. You sit and listen to someone talking about what you have.

I think it will spark suicide attempts in some.

You are right guys, I also think that learners should be informed so that they should be aware of the epidemic disease. If they are aware about the disease then they stand a better chance of passing the information to their family members who are infected and affected. === Original Message === Yeah it's good to tell them before hand but maybe excusing them from class wil help or something. Well Elisia you seem to agree with Lea on this one. I still think that we should not do it in a class rather make it the whole school so that those who are infected don't feel that it is because of them that their class is having the talk. It's better if they are atleats, then the learner will not feel mocked or something like that. Atleats he/she will think its not only me once it's the whole school. But a class actually forces this Kid to listen to he shouldn't had done.

Yeah, another way of making learners to feel free about their own status is to involve them in dramas and also to read stories for those who are infected or affected so that they will gain courage and hope.

I do agree with you that as teacher we should integrate the lessons with HIV/AIDS and be responsible leaders to our learners in guiding them on prevention measures and positive life to those affected

Integration is the best, but just remember as a teacher you should not be shy to say certain words such as vagina and penis.
